Don’t miss this tour!! Karin is an amazing guide; kind, patient and knowledgeable. She took us on a beautiful hike in Wachau to the ruins where Richard the Lionhearted was imprisoned. So breathtaking! And then finishing with a lovely meal at a local establishment to the area. You will not be disappointed! It was truly a fun adventure!

A nice day in the Wachau valley Our hiking was blessed with a nice weather. Karin takes us to off-the-path trails with great views. There are lots of different fruits that we could have a taste. She was an awesome guide!

Vi tillbringade en dag i magiska Wachau och kunde inte vara nöjdare! Vi var lite nervösa att värmen skulle ställa till det för oss, men Karin anpassade så att vi kunde åka lite tidigare på morgonen för att undgå den värsta hettan. Svettiga, lite ömma i fötterna och med 20000 steg avklarade återvände vi till Wien; helt eniga om att denna turen var det bästa med vår vistelse. Landskapet är magiskt, maten och vinet utsökt. Spitz är pittoreskt och som taget ur en sagobok. Karin är en omtänksam, flexibel, otroligt trevlig och professionell guide som visade oss en del av Österrike, vi aldrig hade upptäckt på egen hand. Jag ger denna utflykt mina varmaste rekommendationer!

We had a wonderful time hiking with Karin. The views were absolutely beautiful. There are not many landmarks along the trail, it is mostly just a very nice 2.5 hour walk. At the end we stopped at Durnstein castle which was neat to see. Karin is an excellent guide and knows a lot about the area. Would suggest this experience for nature lovers and for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience. 10/10 recommend!

A Great Day in the Valley We did this hike with Karin in Early October and when people ask me what my favorite thing we did during our 3 week trip to Europe was, I have to say that this was it! Not too difficult, extremely picturesque and a nice break from the city. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Our group had a lovely time on the Durnstein Wachu Hike for Adventurers with Karin. She was punctual, knowledgeable and good-natured. The hike itself was beautiful with a varied trail and gorgeous views of the Danube and surroundings. While it was a bit challenging for some of us, Karin allowed us to go at our own pace so it was an enjoyable experience for all. We particularly enjoyed the relaxing, well-earned respite at an outdoor wine tavern in Durnstein following the hike. All in all Karin led a lovely day outside and provided us with an enjoyable way to explore the area outside Vienna.

My husband and I had a wonderful day of hiking the Durnstein Wachau Adventure hike with Karin as our personal guide. We sent Karin a last minute request, and to our delight, arrangements were made for the next morning. Karin is very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and a great guide. We highly recommend her without reservation.

I highly recommend Karin’s experience to anyone who wants to experience nature of Austria just a little outside of Vienna! It was very windy but the views were amazing at every moment and I felt safe walking with Karin. Karin’s a great host - she adapted my pace and took care of my walk. I could feel her love for the mountains and the nature while taking a short break at the hut! I’d definitely try again for my next visit to Vienna.

Eine schöne Wanderung während Ihres Wien-Besuchs Das war ein toller Tag! Wir trafen Karin in Wien und fuhren mit ihr in die Wachau, wo wir eine dreistündige Wanderung machten. Die Aussicht vom Weg aus war atemberaubend: überall Bauernhöfe und Weinberge. Gegen Ende machten wir Halt für ein leichtes Mittagessen und Wein aus der Region. Karin ist eine wundervolle Führerin: Sie hat viele Wanderungen in verschiedenen Geländen/Schwierigkeitsgraden „kuratiert“. Sie war großartig darin, die lokale Geschichte, den Handel usw. zu beschreiben und konnte die Wanderung an unsere Geschwindigkeit anpassen. Ich gebe dieser Aktivität meine höchste Empfehlung: Sie eignet sich für Wanderer aller Niveaus (und „Neulinge“, die vielleicht das Wandern ausprobieren möchten) und findet an einem äußerst schönen Ort statt. Es ist ein toller Tagesausflug von Wien aus.

A wonderful time my family had spending the day with Karin as we hiked Austria's Grand Canyon. What a beautiful hike she shared with us that runs along an alpine river with so many beautiful waterfalls. Being a "Waterfall Chaser", this hike was a perfect choice. I appreciate Karin's effort and flexibility she allowed to be able to take this hike in such a short window of time. She made it happen for us and I truly appreciate her hospitality to do so. Thank you Karin, we loved spending our day in the Vienna countryside with you!

This tour is fantastic! Karin is fun and interesting and a wonderful guide. The hike is beautiful with great photo opportunities and the village is adorable! Visiting Wachau is a nice break from the city and a great addition to any trip!

Wow Karen was the most wonderful guid that I’ve been on. She’s absolutely wonderful and takes you to the best eating facility. The hike was incredible and the views were amazing. I’d definitely take her again on one of other hikes. She’s fun and exciting to be with. I’d definitely recommend her to ANYONE that’s interested to see a different parts outside of Vienna!!!! 😊🎂😊

My advice if you are considering the Crete Hiking Trip- sign up early or you may not get a spot!

Truly a one-of-a-kind experience you’ll be hard pressed to find in an otherwise commercialized travel world. Karin is an exceptional guide using the right touch of motivation and personal accommodations to make this unique, adventurous and compelling for everyone.

Crete hiking retreat, I was there!
After I was persuaded by my buddy to go on a hiking tour with like-minded people, my enthusiasm wasn't that great. However, I was then linked to Karin's info page!
...the scent of thyme and oregano, the sound of the sea, bleating mountain goats, simply enjoying Greece at its best were the starting signal for an unforgettable experience for me!!
Hikes in such an impressive landscape, through gorges and over mountains, along the coast with a really breathtaking view and all that in a team of strangers who have also become friends in this short time!
FEEL LIFE hits the nail on the head with this amazing experience!!

2023 Cerete Wanderretreat Der Wanderurlaub auf Kreta war einer meiner schönsten Urlaube. Karin hat alles sehr gut organisiert, es gab eine Mischung aus anspruchsvollen und leichten Wanderungen. Jede Wanderung hielt Überraschungen bereit, wie antike Ruinen, Schwimmen in abgelegenen Buchten oder Essen in traditionellen griechischen Tavernen, ganz zu schweigen von der wunderschönen Landschaft Kretas und den malerischen Ausblicken auf die Küste. Ich wurde weggeblasen! Völliges Eintauchen in eine andere Welt. Ich erwähne noch nicht einmal das Beobachten der Sterne, das nächtliche Singen am Strand oder das großartige Essen. Ich habe Frieden, Kultur, Natur und soziale Bereicherung gefunden, was will man mehr? Was ich jedoch am besten fand, war, dass Karin mit ihrer charmanten Persönlichkeit eine Umgebung geschaffen hat, die sechs Fremde zusammenbrachte, die sich nach einer Woche alle als Freunde trennten. Nächstes Jahr werde ich auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Danke Karin!

I first met Karin last summer, on a hiking tour outside of Vienna...and it was after a perfect day of weather and spectacular views at a wine tavern in Dürnstein that she told me of a small village in the south of Crete that had captured her heart. It was a conversation that sparked something in my mind and it was something I knew I wanted to see for myself. So when Karin told me that she was organizing a hiking trip there...I could not sign up fast enough. I threw caution to the wind, flew half a world away and met 5 strangers who, like me, all signed up to "embrace life" in this little village whose name I'd never heard.

It was, hands down, one of the best trips I've ever taken. You can't point to any one thing...only to say that it's the whole experience, that draws you in. It's the beauty of the landscape, the beauty of the people who live there, the remoteness, the feeling of life slowing down and the ability to just "be." The hiking was the primary reason to go...but it quickly became one on a list of many things that made it so memorable a trip. Karin's words deliver...it isn't just a trip, it's a "hiking retreat." And she chose a place where I was able to truly "embrace life" and celebrate it in all 5 senses with 5 amazing humans. Absolutely unforgettable!

The Crete hiking retreat was one of my best vacations. Karin organized everything very well, there was a mix of challenging and easy hikes. Each hike had surprises such as ancient ruins, swimming in secluded coves or food in traditional Greek taverns, not to mention the gorgeous Crete landscape and picturesque views of the coastline. I was blown away! Total emersion in a different world. I'm not even mentioning the star gazing, singing on the beach at night or the great food. I found peace, culture, nature and social enrichment, what more could you ask for? But what I thought was the best was that Karin with her charming personality created an environment that brought 6 strangers together that after one week all parted as friends. Next year I will definitely be back. Thank you Karin!

It’s brilliant! Karin is a lovely host and I really enjoyed the time that I spent with her. The views are beautiful and I found that the walk was really relaxing and fun.
We had lunch and a glass of wine afterwards in the most idyllic location. Such a wonderful way to spend a day. Book it, you won’t regret it.

Ausgezeichnete Wanderung, Höhepunkt unseres Aufenthaltes in Österreich Ich habe diese Wanderung mit Karin geliebt. Wir sind mit dem Zug durch Europa gereist und sitzen daher in den Städten fest. Daher war es wirklich schön, auf dem Land unterwegs zu sein. Karin ist eine absolut wundervolle Führerin. Sie ist super sachkundig und hat uns viel Wissen über viele Dinge vermittelt, entweder über die Berge oder einfach nur über Österreich im Allgemeinen. Sie ging gerne im langsamsten Tempo von uns (ich) und gab uns weder das Gefühl, gehetzt noch unter Druck gesetzt zu werden. Hat uns an bestimmten Stellen die Wahl gelassen, ob wir zum Beispiel auf die Spitze der Ruinen gehen oder sie einfach von der Basis aus bewundern wollten.

Als anstrengend würde ich die Wanderung als moderat einstufen. Manchmal ist der Weg sehr steil und fällt an der Seite ab, sodass ich langsamer fahren musste, um durchzukommen. Manchmal gab es ein Seil zum Festhalten, wenn der Weg schmal war und steil abfiel.

Wir gerieten tatsächlich in einen Regenschauer, aber glücklicherweise wehte er vorbei und wir waren am Ende größtenteils trocken.

Ich empfehle, 2 Wasserflaschen pro Person mitzubringen. Wir hatten jeweils nur eins und ich hatte das Gefühl, dass ich mich damit abfinden musste. Es handelt sich um eine dreistündige Wanderung. Sobald Sie also begonnen haben, gibt es kein Zurück mehr, Sie müssen sich also engagieren. Ich bin 59 Jahre alt und für einen Amerikaner von durchschnittlicher Fitness, und es war gut für mich.

It was an amazing hiking with Karin, She is so lovely and kind. We had really enjoyed our time there, it’s quite hard for beginners but it’s worth it, breathtaking views!

Worth it!! Though this tour may seem a bit expensive, it is DEFINITELY worth it. The beauty of the Austrian Wachau Valley was incredible, and the hike was a perfect way to explore it. Pick up is very easy, at the end of one of the subway lines. The hike lasted about 3 hours, and afterwards we explored a small village, where we ate a delicious lunch - I could have stayed and tried everything on the menu. I recommend bringing some extra cash to go shopping at the stores in the village, which feature locally distilled apricot liquors, whiskeys, gins, handmade chocolates, and many snacks. Karin is energetic and kind and made great conversation throughout the tour. I strongly recommend this tour and would certainly do it again!!

Karin is an amazing tour guide and I can’t recommend her enough. She is very passionate of what she does and has so many stories to tell. Thanks to her we got to see some very idilic sceneries and authentic villages that we wouldn’t have discovered ourselves. We will definitely join Karin’s tours again when we get back!

I had a great time hiking with Karin! 

I took the wrong train so I arrived 30 min late. I called Karin as soon as I knew I was going to be late and she was very nice and was willing to adjust the schedule. Karin was also super friendly. We were able to build up rapport from the beginning and chatted about various topics from technology to daily life. It felt as if I was hiking with an old friend! I was also surprised by her knowledge of the plants and the history of the area. On our way back, we stopped by a local winery, where the food and the wine were both awesome. As a person who couldn’t speak German, I felt very grateful that Karin patiently explained all the menu items to me. Karin also went above and beyond and sent me a list of restaurants, cafes, and bars to check out! (I took her recommendations and was able to confirm that Karin knew the best spots in the city well!!!)

I highly recommend Karin’s hiking tours no matter you are traveling alone or in a group. You’ll be pleasantly surprised! ; )
